Belly dancing helps fibromyalgia patient
I thought this was interesting!
Rachel Bevins is a dance teacher. A belly dance teacher, to be precise. And she also suffers from fibromyalgia.
FMS, as it is also known, is a widespread musculoskeletal pain and fatigue disorder with no known cause. It means severe pain in the muscles, ligaments, and tendons - the soft fibrous tissues in the body, and it can send many sufferers straight to bed.
But not Rachel Bevins. Ask her how and she'll tell you it was through determination and exercise in the form of belly dancing.
Why belly dancing? "I come from a dancing family. Tap, jazz, ballet, you know? This was my way of breaking out," she said.
Rachel has spent the past five years using her master's degree in education to show others the ancient art of belly dance.
